I’m sure you’re always crunched for time but I believe it’s still possible to have delicious, real food bursting with flavour any day of the week. I share my time hacks and make ahead food strategies with you here.
I’m passionate about creating mouth watering meals with everyday ingredients whether you’re a busy professional, a multi-tasking mom/dad or just starting to cook for the first time. Food should always be two things – delicious and affordable. Every recipe here has been tried and tested by myself (plus hungry family members and kids) so you can feel confident about trying out my recipes here. Why I started cooking…
I’ve always had a connection to food – even as a kid I chose to watch Yan Can Cook over Mr Dress Up! I baked (well…tried to) my own pie from scratch when I was 11 so cooking always represented an unadulterated joy for me. I am a creative introvert so cooking food has been – and always will be – a great outlet for me.
After graduating from systems engineering and working many years (and hours) as an IT consultant I became a mom to two spunky little girls. As a young professional, I didn’t really make the time to cook but work travel gave me a chance to try all kinds of cuisines. I got to expand my waistline and my palate with so many flavours!! After having my kids though, it really put family meals on centre stage. I discovered first hand how hard it was to pull off weeknight dinners with a busy work schedule. Over the years, I’ve embraced this challenge head on and rediscovered my childhood love of food. I’ve also developed clever ways to save time, decouple prep and cook time to put a homemade meal on the table that my family loves. I hope to share my ideas with you so you can accomplish the same!
When I’m not in the kitchen, I’m outside catching bugs with my two daughters or doing some sort of arts and crafts project. During the week, I run a tech training business alongside my husband and teach fitness classes at my local gym. So I’m definitely busy…but cooking…so you can too!

My cooking is inspired by my Chinese (Cantonese specifically) background so a lot of my dishes have an Asian element to them. I’m absolutely obsessed with umami rich flavours and I tend to always ask “can I pour that over rice or pasta?” (most of the time the answer is “Why the heck not?“) My dishes pull from memories cooking with my mother and skills I’ve gained from generational recipes passed down by my family. So these dishes are staples my family has enjoyed for years!
You will also find quite a few baking recipes here because what’s life without a little dessert? Or dare I must say….without chocolate? 😱
I always develop my recipes with you in mind. So I aim to make them easy to follow with common ingredients you can find in your local grocery store. I live up in the suburbs of Toronto, Canada and I don’t find myself at a Whole Foods or specialty grocery store all that often!
